It was the first day of the week. Monday, 28th of September
2020. I challenged myself to step up my teaching level. I brainstormed some fun
ideas to engage with the pupils. I came out with several ideas to make the
lesson fun and interesting. I also introduced new reward system to the pupils
so that it can attract them to involve with the lesson. On that day, Alhamdulillah,
everything went well. The kids loved the reward system that I introduced to
them. It made them to be more participated in class and they even tried to
answer questions I asked in the class. I was so happy during that time. I also
used flashcards and mahjong papers in the lesson that day. After finished the
one-hour class, I received positive feedbacks from my mentor. I felt very
motivated and happy that day. I forced myself to create fun lesson plans for
the whole week at that moment because I knew that I would not be motivated all
the time.
On the next day, 29th of
September 2020, I had no class. As usual, Tuesday is my free time. I usually
got some classes to relief on Tuesday. On that day, I had to relief two
classes, Year 4 Moral Class and 5 Elit for Malay Language. Then, I spent my day
at school with completing my weekly journal and creating lesson plans for the
next lesson. Nothing special happened on that day.
The next day, Wednesday, 30th
of September 2020, I did not continue the lesson with possessive pronouns. On
that day, I chose to teach them stories from the Get Smart Plus 4 textbook. It
was The Lost Boy series from the textbook. Explaining the story in English was
a bit tough for me because they barely understand. However, I asked them to
listen to the audio of the story and read the story in the textbook at the same
time. By doing that method, they would know new vocabularies and how to
pronounce them. After read the stories, I asked them to complete the worksheets
that I gave. It was just a simple worksheet to test their understanding on the
stories. From the worksheets, they finally got to draw and colour. Hence, their
creativity can be sharpen.
It
was Thursday, the 1st of October 2020. On that day, I decided to
make a simple class with my lovely 4 Gemilang kids. They were asked to bring
their own items to create a pencil holder. Some of them were very prepared with
their items and some of them did not. I was amazed with their efforts to make
something out of recycle items. They were also told that they would get present
or reward if they managed to produce a nice pencil holder. They managed to
produce nice and cute pencil holders after a few days. After evaluating their
works, I decided to choose Nurul Iman Insyirah as the winner. I also gave mini
reward to the others so that they would not feel left behind. After all, I
appreciated all of their efforts.
On Friday, 2nd of October 2020, I decided to teach them new thing
which is Indefinite Pronouns. I prepared 32 sets of picture puzzles for them to
complete. I decided to insert the puzzle in my lesson to make it more
interesting and fun. I loved to see the pupils had fun completing their picture
puzzles. They needed to construct few sentences using indefinite pronouns based
on the picture puzzles. What can I see from the lesson, they enjoyed completing
the puzzle but they had a hard time constructing sentences. However, after
being guided, they managed to construct sentences based on the picture puzzles.
