It was the 14th of September 2020. On that Monday, BE101 0720
session students were asked to report duty as practicum teachers at our
respective schools. I went to Sekolah Kebangsaan Kajang Utama (SKKU), Kajang as
early as 7:00A.M. to report my duty. I was so nervous and a bit clueless. SKKU
was my primary school during my primary school years. I studied there since
2007 until 2012. I was excited and happy to meet my former teachers! My
feelings were mixed. I decided to pack my things up and went straight away to
the office. Since I came too early that morning, I had to wait for few minutes
for the Guru Penolong Kanan Pentadbir dan Kurikulum to arrive. After waited for
about 10 minutes, I finally got to meet Encik Ruzaimie bin Razak, Guru Penolong
Kanan Pentadbir dan Kurikulum Sekolah Kebangsaan Kajang Utama. I reported my
duty, handed some documents, and introduced myself to him. He wanted to be
called as Sir Mie instead or Cikgu Ruzaimie. Sir Mie briefed me about
everything, from A to Z. I was so happy and blessed at that time. Since the
first week was called as Rancangan Orientasi Sekolah (ROS) week, I did not get
my time table yet. I had to complete the ROS by the end of the first week. Sir
Mie promised to introduce me to my school mentor on the next day.
The next day, 15th September 2020, I went to school as usual
and straight away to Sir Mie’s office. Sir Mie gave my time table and
introduced me to my school mentor, Puan Hasimah binti Bosri. She is very nice
and humble. She is an English Language teacher who teaches Year 4. We
introduced ourselves and Sir Mie explained everything to Puan Hasimah. Puan
Hasimah stated that she started teaching at SEKATA in 2015. Hence, she was not
my former teacher during my primary school years. After done with our short
meeting session with Sir Mie and Puan Hasimah, she decided to take me to my
place. I did not get the chance to be in the Teacher’s Room since there was no
space left for new teachers. My mentor decided to place me in Bilik Rawatan
since her place was there too. There were three more teachers in Bilik Rawatan,
Puan Mahfuzah, Puan Rama, and Puan Intan Marhayu. They are all English Language
teachers except Puan Ayu. She is a Mathematics Teacher. It was a good starting
for me since I got the chance to ask a lot from them. I continued the day by
wandering around the school to see if there were any differences. Time flied so
fast until it was 1:20P.M. I went back home and took a short nap.
The following day was 16th of September 2020, a public
holiday because it was Malaysia Day. I did not have to come to school on that
day so I decided to buy more stuffs that I need for my practicum. I went to a
book store in Bangi to buy some extra books and markers. I had so many free
time that I need to use wisely on that day. I decided to complete my Rancangan
Orientasi Sekolah (ROS) report and later on, I created my lesson plans for the
following week. I will be officially teaching by next week, specifically on the
21st of September 2020.
The next day, 17th of September 2020, I went to school and straight away to Bilik Rawatan. I started my day by completing the ROS report as I needed to complete it by this week. I struggled a bit to find the school’s information but luckily, my mentor, Puan Hasimah gave me the School Management Book. I analyzed and copied some information that need to be gathered for my ROS report.
It was finally Friday, 18th of September 2020, the end of the working days. I came to school as usual. I started my day by signing in at the school’s office and going straight away to Bilik Rawatan. It was the last day for me to complete my ROS report. I took my time to finish all the report and documents. I also went to a mini ‘party’ during the recess time. It was just a little birthday celebration of one of the teachers there. I met a lot new teachers including my former teachers. This week was a wonderful week for me. I just cannot wait for the following weeks!
